In addition to athletic usage, tank tops have traditionally been used as undershirts, especially with suits and dress shirts. It is called a singlet in Australia and New Zealand. In the UK, especially when used as an undershirt, it is known as a vest (compare the American usage of " vest"). News outlets are alleged to have printed a photo of him in a stained undershirt and referred to him as "the wife beater." The term wifebeater reportedly became synonymous for an undershirt after a 1947 criminal case when a Detroit man was arrested for beating his wife to death. The tank top designed for a tight fit and often made of ribbed cotton is also called a wifebeater, beater, or A-shirt, or historically a guinea tee, or dago tee (" guinea" and " dago" being American ethnic slurs for people of Italian ethnicity). Such shirts without logos are now more commonly worn as casual wear. They were quite popular in the 1980s and were commonly associated with surfers and bodybuilders (hence the name "muscle" shirt) and often bore the names and logos of gyms. They are colloquially known as shooter shirts in the southern United States. They are often worn during athletic activities or as casual wear during warmer weather. Some sleeveless T-shirts, which possess smaller, narrower arm holes, can be worn by both women and men, usually with sports bras underneath for women. In almost all cases, they are buttonless, collarless, and pocketless.Ī sleeveless T-shirt, also called a muscle shirt, is the same design as a T-shirt, but without sleeves. They are also sometimes made long to make tucking into pants easier. (Women's tank tops have smaller holes, to conceal their breasts). One usually has large armholes and neck holes and a neckline that can reach down as far as the bottom of the chest. The build of a tank top is simple: the neck and armholes are often reinforced for durability. The upper garment is worn commonly by both men and women. It is named after tank suits, one-piece bathing suits of the 1920s worn in tanks or swimming pools. In the United States and Canada, any casual sleeveless shirt can be called tank top or tank shirt, with several specific varieties. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The simulation gives us both mean and median points for all teams. Without further ado, here are our ’21-22 season point projections for all NHL teams:Ī few points of clarification. We then run a Monte Carlo simulation 50,000 times with all of that in place to project point totals for all teams in the league. We still use a roster-level system, project various metrics for every player for next season (notably xSPAR and our own “game score” metric), determine the roster for every team (based on CapFriendly’s depth charts and research for when injured players might come back), aggregate those individual projections into team ratings for forwards / defensemen / goalies, and compute game probabilities for every game for the ’21-22 schedule. We’ve made a few updates to the model / system since the 2021 playoffs, but for the most part, not much has changed. We covered this in detail in our round 1 playoff article.
